Latino Fashion Week Designer Competition & Press Event!!

Student Designer Winner with her Designs
This Tuesday, October 11th I had the privilage to attend Latino Fashion Week's Designer Competition & Press Event!!! Chicago is the ONLY city nationally that has a week dedicated to the fastest growing ethnic group in the United States. Latino Fashion Week here in Chicago was created by Cesar Rolon Jr & Arabel Alva Rosales. This week-long exhibit showcasing Latin designers from all over the world is one-of-a-kind. This specific event Tuesday was geared towards the media-listing out all the UPCOMING events that Latino Fashion Week has stored for Chicago. Let me just add....MANY MANY EVENTS!!!

Starting Tuesday November 1st-Sunday November 6th, there is an event every day showcasing fashions designed by Latinos. There are events such as Designer's Muse, Unity Canvas which has a multicultural fashion show, Teen Day Fashion Show which includes motivational speakers such as Zoe Damacela, Designer & Jorge Perez who is World PREMIERING his Quinceanera line there that day (hint which is exclusive to the fab Macy's). Also happening are Mixed Mediums, which showcase designs from Latina designer Alicia Estrada from Stop Starring (which is HUGE in L.A). There is MUCH MUCH more....which I will TOTALLY write about in upcoming posts.\

What to expect in this years Latino Fashion Week: Many international Latino designers and global designers (there is one coming in from India). Also, don't be shocked if you see celebs roaming the streets of Chicago, there are plenty making appearances in Latino Fashion Week such as Radio Personality Nina Chantele and actor/model Cristian Carabias (yes he will be making heads turn). I also got the privilage to meet great UPCOMING Latina designers Jacqueline Amezcua (amazing fun red dress-Lady Gaga would snatch in a minute) and Karl Andrea (very sophisticated Audrey Hepburd dress one that anyone can wear and look like a million dollars). Another honorable mention to upcoming Latina designer Kelsey Garcia-she rocked the runway.

Great day....great upcoming events...a MUST SEE for all, Latino or not!!!!! Also a shout out to Lourdes, who is a great inspiration to all; married 37 years and still in love with the same man as she was the first day she meet him!!!!!
